MAINTENANCE OF EQUIPMENT

The ZED Head Office facilities in eMalahleni (Witbank) include a fully equipped workshop where we are able to repair and maintain the company’s equipment.  The workshop also renders an on-site support service and is capable of handling basic manufacturing tasks. Workshop personnel include qualified and experienced Diesel Mechanics, Auto Electricians, Maintenance Fitters and Boiler Makers.  Engineering requirements are contracted to various companies. Fully trained and qualified field technicians visit drill sites in all areas on a daily basis attending to maintenance and preventative maintenance. Well-equipped field technician vehicles are used by all field technicians, in most cases eliminating standing time.

The site office in Mokopane has a fully equipped workshop from where minor repairs, maintenance and on-site support services are provided.

TRAINING CENTRE

ZED is the first and only drilling company in South Africa to be awarded a Mine Qualifications Authority (MQA) accreditation for our training centre that allows for the presentation of exploration drilling courses.  In 2010 ZED’s driller’s qualification program was approved and registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and MQA.

Our Training Centre is certified by the Department of Labour to present First Aid level 1 and 2 training and offers various other training interventions to ensure that we provide competent skilled employees on site.

Skills Program

The Training Department is accredited to present the MQA Skills Program (MQA/SP/0148/13) Operate Mobile Machinery for Surface Excavation Operations which are based on four unit standards:

  • Drill holes using a Small Diameter Rotary Drill not exceeding 170 mm;
  • Provide Risk-based Primary Emergency Care / First Aid in the Work Place;
  • Demonstrate Knowledge and Ability to Work in a Surface Mine; and
  • Basic Health and Safety Principles in and Around the Workplace
Certification and Accreditation

The company subscribes to all legal requirements and Certificates and Accreditations are updated as and when required.   Copies of the following can be obtained from our website:

  • BBBEE status
  • UIF registration
  • Good Standing (UIF, SARS and Compensation Officer)
  • SHEMS Accreditation
  • Training Centre Accreditation (MQA, ISO and First Aid).
